Graphite powder, <20 μm, synthetic is an allotrope of carbon. Characterized by its extreme softness (soapy feel), iron-black colour, metallic lustre, low specific gravity, odourless, infusibility, tasteless, non-toxic and chemically inert to acids and alkalis under most conditions.

Graphite powder is used as an additive to alter the magneto rheology and electrical conductivity of magnetorheological elastomers. It is also to make crucibles and other refractory products, lubricants, paint, stove polish, “lead” pencils, electrodes, brake linings, batteries, powder metallurgy, fertilizers, glass manufacture, conductive coatings, and for foundry facings.
