Sodium hydroxide 50% solution is a strong alkali colourless liquid, denser than water. Caustic Soda Solution reacts strongly alkaline and is highly corrosive to various materials.

It is utilized in making cellophane, rayon, bleaches, dyes and drugs. It is also employed to abstract hydrogen sulphide from petroleum and to degrade lignin in wood in the paper industry. Sodium hydroxide is very corrosive and is really important in the industry of drinking water treatment.
