Sodium Hexametaphosphate (commonly known as Calgon) 40% Solution is a high-strength liquid polyphosphate sequestrant intended for applications requiring maximum active concentration and reduced transport volumes.

It is commonly used for washing and scouring sheep fleece and wool, especially in hard water conditions where mineral ions reduce cleaning efficiency. By effectively binding calcium, magnesium, iron, and other metals, Sodium Hexametaphosphate enhances detergent action and helps prevent soil redeposition on fibres.

In water treatment applications, Sodium Hexametaphosphate 40% Solution acts as a sequestrant for alkali and alkaline earth metals, delivering corrosion control, scale inhibition, and water softening. It is also widely used for red and black water control, stabilising iron and manganese to reduce staining, turbidity, and discoloration.

This 40% aqueous solution minimises storage space and dosing volumes compared to lower-strength grades while avoiding the handling and dust issues associated with solid sodium hexametaphosphate. It additionally serves as a dispersant and deflocculant in a variety of industrial systems.
