Silane Coupling Agents for Sealants and Adhesives

Silane coupling agents are silicon-based chemicals containing two types of reactivity (inorganic and organic) in the same molecule. Even though sealants and adhesives are used for different purposes, silane coupling agents contribute to reduce costs, improve economic efficiencies, and simplify the production processes of both materials used to effectively replace welding, riveting, snails and other mechanical connections. The addition of those products entails a few advantages including the improvement of compatibility and dispersion, the reduction of viscosity, and the ability to improve the bond strengths of the interface layer.

At all Chemical, we recommend the use of the following silane coupling agents as a mechanism to improve adhesion, durability, moisture resistance, and heat resistance in sealants and adhesives. Besides, those products can even be used directly as an adhesive for bonding metal to silicone rubber, fluororubber, nitrile rubber, etc.
