EDTA Tetrasodium is the salt resulting from the neutralization of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid with four equivalents of sodium hydroxide. EDTA Tetrasodium is a white and highly soluble salt in water, used as an organic chelating agent in ion exchange, metal chelation, antioxidation procedures, spectrophotometric titration, and other chemical procedures. Tetrasodium EDTA also helps maintain clarity, protect fragrance compounds, and prevent rancidity. One of its main uses it to help personal care products work better in hard water.

It is usually used to dissolve limescale and to sequester metal ions in aqueous solution.
