Cupricide is an effective copper based aquatic algaecide used against blue-green, green and filamentous algae. Excessive nutrient loads in the water from farm fertilizers, domestic waste, road runoff and decaying organic matter and all cause algal blooms. Algal blooms cause problems for water bodies whether its available oxygen for a fish pond or an unsightly water colour in ornamental water features. Some algal species can also release toxins and chemicals which are detrimental if the dam is being used as water supply or irrigation.

The benefit of Cupricide is that it is chelated copper which has benefits of being registered and safe for use with fish, swimming ponds, irrigation and animal water trough supply as long as dose rates are followed. Care should be taken when using any algaecide product, particularly if there are fish in the system.
