Calcium lignosulfonate is an amorphous light-yellow-brown powder obtained from the sulphite pulping of softwood.

It is used as a dispersing agent in concrete and carbon black-rubber mixes, extender for tanning agents, oil-well drilling mud additives, ore flotation agents, production of vanillin, industrial cleaners, gypsum slurred, dyestuffs, pesticide formulations.
