Bromothymol blue also known as bromothymol sulfone phthalein and BTB is a pH indicator. It is employed as a pH indicator which is yellow at pH of less or equal to 6.0 and blue at pH of 7.6. It finds its major application in lithium battery, textiles, antagonists, observing photosynthetic activities, respiratory indicator (turns yellow as CO2 is added) and in science classes to demonstrate that the more that muscles are used, the greater the CO2 output.
