Sodium Bicarbonate Technical Grade, also known as bicarbonate of soda, is a versatile alkaline chemical compound with the formula NaHCO₃. It is a salt composed of sodium ions and bicarbonate ions and appears as a white crystalline solid or fine powder. Sodium Bicarbonate is widely used across industrial, water treatment, cleaning, agricultural, and manufacturing applications due to its excellent buffering, neutralising, and mild abrasive properties.

Sodium Bicarbonate is commonly used to neutralise unwanted acid solutions and acid spills in chemical laboratories and industrial environments. It is also widely used in soda blasting processes for the removal of paint, grease, coatings, and corrosion from sensitive surfaces such as aluminium, copper, timber, stainless steel, and other softer substrates that may be damaged by harsher abrasive media such as silica sand.

A paste made from Sodium Bicarbonate and water can also be used as a gentle scouring and cleaning agent for removing surface rust, stains, and contaminants. It is commonly added to washing machines as a water softener alternative and deodorising agent and is effective in helping remove tea and coffee stains from cups and surfaces when diluted with warm water.
